Celebrating the Mawlid al nabawee (The prophet's birthday ) is an innovation and islam is free from such practices.The Prophet peace be upon him never celebrated it nor did the companions so why should we do it? وَمَنْ أَرَادَ الآخِرَةَ وَسَعَى لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ فَأُولَئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُم مَّشْكُورًا
